Sounds in Warlpiri: consonant sounds checklist

This checklist is based on recordings of young Warlpiri children, ages 16 months to 6 years. Consonants are listed in the order that children produce them at 75% accuracy or above. You can download the list in pptx format at the link below.

This study (in progress) shows that Warlpiri children learn consonant sounds at the same ages and in the same order as children learning the sounds in other languages around the world. Some sounds in Warlpiri are the same as in some other languages, some are different from many.
